To secure her son's placement at a prestigious academy, a single mother accepts a janitorial role at Lockwood Group. Her supervisor Vanessa subjects her to daily degradation that culminates in locking the child inside a warehouse and setting it ablaze. The boy survives the fire, but the ensuing investigation uncovers a DNA link identifying the company's chief executive as his biological father, conceived during a single encounter six years earlier.
