A prince becomes a dragon king's magical bride to save his kingdom from a blood pact.

Prince Laren of Lawrence substitutes for his suicidal sister Princess Lily to fulfill a dragon-blood marriage pact with King Arthur. Arthur recognizes Laren as his childhood savior from twelve years prior and proceeds with the wedding despite Laren's male form. Using pure-blood dragon magic, Arthur alters Laren's body to enable conception of a dragon heir, a process requiring true love. The former Dragon King and noble Cecilia conspire to assassinate Laren. Amid possessive devotion and lethal intrigue, Laren conceives an egg during a fatal confrontation with Cecilia, its power preserving his life. Mistrusting Arthur's motives, Laren later faces humiliation and a kidnapping attempt on Lily by Prince Karl in Lawrence. Arthur intervenes in black-dragon form. Laren deposes his father, installs Lily as queen, and returns to Dragon Castle where he gives birth to a dragon heir. When the old king stages a coup, Arthur crushes the rebellion and claims the crown, coronating Laren as Dragon Queen.
