Ivy turns twenty-four while her boyfriend, brother, and childhood friend protect her adopted sister from a water ride, leaving her alone in the rain.

Ivy spends her twenty-fourth birthday at an amusement park with her adopted sister, her boyfriend, her brother, and her childhood friend. A splash ride drenches the group. Her boyfriend, her brother, and her childhood friend immediately hold umbrellas and jackets over the adopted sister. Ivy remains exposed to the downpour. Nobody asks whether she is cold or offers her a towel. The birthday outing reveals that her closest people have made her an afterthought in her own life.
