An orphan's typo brings a hellhound and the Devil to guard her against bullies and an orphanage.

Six-year-old Poppy, orphaned after her parents died saving others, lives alone in a dilapidated shack. A Christmas Eve typo sends her wish to Satan instead of Santa. The Devil dispatches Cerberus, surgically reduced to one head and wearing a red bow, to protect his accidental believer. The hellhound, renamed Pippy, speaks to Poppy and drives off an intruder, giving her the first family she has known. When school bullies escalate, Satan manifests as a colossal shadow, scattering the children and suffering black lightning wounds for violating Hell's laws. He adopts Poppy as Lucifer Morningstar to block the orphanage. On Christmas, he storms Heaven, scorched by holy light, to retrieve her parents' souls for a final dream farewell.
